Pre-Tan Prep: Everything You Need to Know

To get the most flawless, long-lasting glow, a little prep goes a long way. Here’s how to get your skin ready for your custom spray tan at Pure Glow NV:

Book Your Beauty Appointments First:
Make sure any hair removal is taken care of before your tan.

  • Waxing or laser? Schedule those 2–3 days before your spray tan.

  • Shaving? Aim to shave 12–24 hours ahead of time. If you're short on time, at least give it 3–4 hours before your tan.

Exfoliate Like a Pro:
For the best results, smooth skin is key.

  • Use a proper exfoliating mitt (you can find great ones on Amazon) to slough off dead skin.

  • Dry brushing and loofahs don’t do enough trust us on this one!

  • Keep your skin hydrated inside and out by drinking plenty of water and moisturizing daily in the days leading up to your appointment.

Skip Products the Day Of:
On the day of your appointment, arrive with clean, product-free skin.

  • No deodorant, makeup, perfumes, or lotions.

Dress for the Glow:
After your appointment, you’ll want to stay comfy and protect your developing tan.

  • Wear loose, dark clothing.

  • Bring SLIDES. If it’s raining, wear loose socks with rain boots.

Leave the Bling at Home:
Remove any jewelry before your appointment.

Skip Harsh Skincare Ingredients:
Stop using retinol, glycolic acid, and other strong active serums at least 7–10 days before your spray tan.

  • Vitamin C is okay leading up to your tan, but not on the day of.

No Tan If You’ve Had Microneedling Recently:
If you've had microneedling within the last 2–3 weeks, it’s best to wait. Spray tanning too soon after can lead to patchy results and even risk infection. After your tan, wait at least 10 days before booking a microneedling session.

No Sunburns, Please
If you currently have a sunburn or are peeling, please reschedule your appointment.
Spray tan solution will not absorb evenly on damaged or peeling skin and can result in patchy, uneven color. Tanning over a burn can also worsen irritation and lead to discomfort. Your skin needs time to heal fully before we can safely give you that flawless glow.
